Students, faculty and staff are invited to submit nominations for the 2019 President’s Award for Excellence in Student Leadership. This award recognizes graduating students (undergraduate or graduate) who are outstanding student leaders. Up to five awards are presented annually at the June or November convocation ceremony.

Each year, this award is presented to graduates who, as well as demonstrating academic excellence, also find time to make a difference in the lives of others through leadership in their communities. In 2018, the award recognized Rena Far, Samuel Geisterfer, Simei (Amy) Li, Gabrielle Wagner and Kyle Mayr — five graduates who not only served as inspiring leaders on the ¶¶ŇőAPPµĽş˝ campus, but also created positive change in the wider Calgary community. You can read about each of these graduates on the President’s Award website.

“So many of our students, on top of working to maintain a high academic standard, give of their time and talent to invest in the lives of others,” says Dr. Susan Barker, vice-provost (student experience). “This award is a chance to honour some of our brightest stars and celebrate the difference they are making.”

Nominators must have consent from the students whose names are put forward to the selection committee, which includes representation from the Students’ Union and the Graduate Student’s Association. In addition to the nomination letter, two supporting letters of reference are required from students, faculty or staff at the University of Calgary.
