Know before you go: U SPORTS Men's Basketball Final 8 Tournament
For the first time in 46 years, the APP Dinos are set to bring the spotlight back to Calgary as they host the highly anticipated . From March 6 to 8, the nation’s top eight university teams will make their way down to the University of Calgary for the high-energy, high-stakes weekend of championship basketball.
The tournament begins Friday, March 6, launching six sessions of intense gameplay through a March Madness-style bracket. By Sunday, March 8, the national title will be granted to the team that rises above the rest. Among the teams already confirmed are the University of Victoria Vikes, UBC Thunderbirds, Acadia University Axemen, and, of course, the .
As the time nears to watch the Dinos defend their court, here’s what fans need to know to enjoy the event. From tickets to transportation, we’ve got all the important info you need to know.
Getting there
The event will be held in the University of Calgary’s Jack Simpson Gym as the Dinos prepare to play for their home-town crowd.
- Transit: The Jack Simpson Gym is easily accessible through CTrain Transit. The venue is located approximately 10 minutes walking distance from the Red Line’s University Station.
- Parking: Parking is available in various locations across campus. Lot 10 and Lot 11 are your best bet, with only a short walks to the Olympic Oval entrance and require a daily flat-rate fee of $10.
Tickets
Tickets are available through . This event is open to the public, welcoming all friends, family, and fans to come out and support the Dinos. APP students can access an exclusive discount code at the checkout screen. By typing “F8-”, followed by their UCID, students receive $13 off a APP Student ticket!

As the Dinos kick off the tournament on Friday, be sure to swing by the North/South Courtyard of the MacEwan Student Centre. From 3 to 6 p.m., fans can enjoy prizes, games, and music before the energy continues with a 6 p.m. watch party.
